How to Clear Your Mind and Soul of Negativity

Edited by Nicoletta Z.,

Many people have been through a lot in their life time. Negative seeds have been sown into their hearts and as they grow up these negative seeds begin to grow and get stronger and more difficult to get rid of. Its almost like planting an Oak tree seed, and leaving it to grow: it will grow and become big and strong, and the roots go so deep into the ground it is almost impossible to uproot. If you follow these simple steps you can easily clear your mind and soul from negativity but you have to do it with an open heart, open mind and a spirit filled with hope.

  1. Clear Your Mind and Soul of Negativity Step 01.jpg
    1
Find faith in yourself. It is a good idea to get to know yourself above all. Forget about outside forces, pay attention to your life and your situation.

  2. Clear Your Mind and Soul of Negativity Step 02.jpg
    2
JUST LET IT GO! People have the right to happiness (of course, that also includes you!), and just letting negative experiences be bygones helps quite a lot.
  3. Clear Your Mind and Soul of Negativity Step 03.jpg
    3
Let your mind, body and soul influence you along the path you should walk along.
  4. Clear Your Mind and Soul of Negativity Step 04.jpg
    4
Start to think more positively, and feed your mind and soul with positive words, positive people and positive things. But don't bury the thoughts in your heart where they mature into hatred and contempt. Share how you feel, with someone you trust.
  5. Clear Your Mind and Soul of Negativity Step 05.jpg
    5
If you feel weak or angry, go for walks at sunrise/sunset and breathe in the fresh air.
  6. Clear Your Mind and Soul of Negativity Step 06.jpg
    6
Take 5 minutes out of everyday to just lie down and reflect.
  7. Clear Your Mind and Soul of Negativity Step 07.jpg
    7
Try more physical/spiritual methods to calm down, such as meditation or or yoga, pilates etc.
  8. Clear Your Mind and Soul of Negativity Step 08.jpg

Before you start working on your goals, read positive affirmations or listen to your favorite music. Do something to get your brain into a good, happy, positive mind set.

Meditation

A silent gateway

sitting Zazen

asking, What is this?

what is it that floats from the mind-heart

on a wave of Unborn Buddha Mind?

the first syllable of a word left to dissolve

or a brilliant small bird springing up,

green wings quivering.

the third eye opening,

what does it see?

a metta chant for all beings

for the tender inhalation of awakening

or a flood of tears, jagged and liberating

rolling to the beads of my mala

but there are no answers

only the gateless gate

there to step through time and time again

in Zazen.

Peace of Mind Tips and Advice

Peace of Mind Tips and Advice
By Remez Sasson

Most people would be glad to have some peace of mind in their life. They would be happy to forget their troubles, problems and worries, and enjoy a few moments of inner calmness and freedom from obsessing thoughts.

What is peace of mind? It is a state of inner calmness and tranquility, together with a sense of freedom, when thoughts and worries cease, and there is no stress, strain or fear. Such moments are not so rare. They may be experienced while being engaged in some kind of an absorbing or interesting activity, such as while watching an entertaining movie or TV program, while being with someone you love, while reading a book or while lying on the sand at the beach.

When you are on vacation, do you experience some sort of mental numbness? At this time, the mind becomes calmer, with fewer thoughts and fewer worries. Even while you are deeply asleep, not aware of your thoughts, you are in a state of inner peace.

Such activities, and similar ones, take away the mind from its usual thoughts and worries, and bring about temporary inner peace.

The question is, how to bring more peace of mind into our life, and more importantly, how to experience it in times of trouble. You might also ask whether it is possible to make it a habit, and enjoy it always and under all circumstances. First, you need to learn to bring more moments of inner peace into your daily life. Later, you will be able to experience these moments in times of trouble or difficulties too, when you really need inner calmness and tranquility.

You can turn peace of mind into a natural habit, but to do so, special training is required, through concentration exercises, meditation and other means. Browse this website, and you will find articles, advice and techniques for attaining peace of mind, as well as a special book dedicated to this subject.

Here are a few simple things that can help you:

Reduce the amount of time you read the newspapers or watch the news on TV.

Stay away from negative conversations and from negative people.

Don't hold grudges. Learn to forget and forgive. Nurturing ill feelings and grievances hurts you and causes lack of sleep.

Don't be jealous of others. Being jealous means that you have low self-esteem and consider yourself inferior to others. Jealousy and low self esteem, often lead to lack of inner peace.

Accept what cannot be changed. This saves a lot of time, energy and worries.

Every day we face numerous inconveniences, irritations and situations that are beyond our control. If we can change them, that's fine, but this is not always possible. We must learn to put up with such things and accept them cheerfully.

Learn to be more patient and tolerant with people and events.

Don't take everything too personally. Some emotional and mental detachment is desirable. Try to view your life and other people with a little detachment and less involvement. Detachment is not indifference, lack of interest or coldness. It is the ability to think and judge impartially and logically. Don't worry if again and again you fail to manifest detachment. Just keep trying.

Let bygones be gone. Forget the past and concentrate on the present moment. There is no need to evoke unpleasant memories and immerse yourself in them.

Practice some concentration exercises. This will help you to reject unpleasant thoughts and worries that steal away your peace of mind.

Learn to practice meditation. Even a few minutes a day will make a change in your life.

Inner peace ultimately leads to external peace. By creating peace in our inner world, we bring it into the external world, affecting other people too.

Heart Meditation

Heart Meditation
Heart meditation helps you with your ability to love and also your ability to let things go, both of which are very important in everyday life when dealing with other people, whether its loved ones or just acquaintances. Your ability to love effects your relationships on many levels, the ability to let go is also very important as resentment and anger can build up to dangerous levels if left unchecked.

Heart meditation helps on both of these matters by activating two important chakras, the heart chakra and the navel chakra. The heart chakra is in the heart centre which is located between the breast and slightly to the left. The navel chakra is located about 2 to 3 inches below your navel.

To practice the heart meditation firstly take your usual meditating position (heart meditation is not dependent on position and can be practiced in any), my favorite is to sit on a meditation cushion cross legged, with my knees touching the floor and my back straight.

Heart meditation is aligned with your breathing so you might want to take a minute to relax and take a few deep breaths. When you are comfortable, breathe in and imagine the breath going into your heart center.

The second stage is, when you breathe out, imagine your breath is flowing down to your navel chakra; this stimulates a feeling of letting go.

The third stage of heart meditation is when you breathe in you imagine you breathe in from your navel chakra to your heart center.
Stage two is then repeated with an inner feeling of letting go.
Stage three is repeated again, as you imagine that you breathe in from your navel to your heart center.

The process is repeated between stage 2 and stage 3 until your meditation is over.

When you have practiced and mastered the heart meditation technique, you may like to imagine when breathing to your heart center that a white light and a feeling of love is engulfing the heart, some yogi have said that the feeling of love is so intense that it has brought such joy and a inner peace that is unrivaled.

Understand about Meditation

During meditation brain waves alter.

BETA - 13-30 cycles per second - awaking awareness, extroversion, concentration, logical thinking - active conversation. A debater would be in high beta. A person making a speech, or a teacher, or a talk show host would all be in beta when they are engaged in their work.

ALPHA - 7-13 cycles per second - relaxation times, non-arousal, meditation, hypnosis

THETA - 4-7 cycles per second - day dreaming, dreaming, creativity, meditation, paranormal phenomena, out of body experiences, ESP, shamanic journeys.

DELTA - 1.5-4 or less cycles per second - deep dreamless sleep.
